Monadnock Law Enforcement Instructor Courses Offered:

Monadnock Defensive Tactics System (MDTS) Instructor:
The Monadnock Defensive Tactics System (MDTS) is a basic defensive tactics and subject-control program created by the internationally recognized and respected Monadnock Police Training Council. The focus of this system is to stabilize and control non-compliant subjects who are unarmed. It provides increased officer safety and decreased agency liability through proper training. This course can be used as the foundation for all non-lethal force training. Topics covered include ¨armlocks¨ and ¨escort holds,¨ handcuffing, blocking skills, active defensive skills (strikes/kicks) and weapon retention. It provides the needed background to transform any officer into a certified MDTS Instructor. Completion of this course provides additional credibility to any department´s use of force option training and development.

Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB) Basic & Advanced Instructor:
The Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB) Course provides increased officer safety and decreased agency liability through proper training. The courses cover multiple defensive blocks to protect the officer along with several different strikes and target areas. Extensive medical research was completed in order to create the color-coded Monadnock Baton Chart, which shows escalation of trauma by vital and vulnerable striking areas. All courses include baton retention techniques, since baton retention not only protects the officer from a possible impact weapon strike, it also protects the subject from a potentially deadly escalation of force, and therefore the agency from unnecessary law suits. The MEB Advanced courses include armlocks and escort holds, designed to control subjects, which can provide reduced agency liability from excessive force complaints. The MEB Advanced Instructor Course provides the needed training to transform any officer into a certified MEB Advanced Instructor. All Monadnock courses require that students properly demonstrate the techniques of the course and pass a written exam in order to be certified.

Monadnock PR-24 Baton Instructor:
The Monadnock PR-24 Side-handle Baton Instructor Course is based on the Protect and Restrain principle of the PR-24. The goal is for the officers to defend themselves and gain control of the subjects, which increases officer safety and decreases agency liability. Monadnock Police Training Council programs are recognized throughout the world. This PR-24 Instructor Program is designed to be used with any side-handle baton. The side-handle baton courses cover multiple defensive blocks to protect the officer along with several different strikes and target areas. Extensive medical research was completed in order to create the color-coded Monadnock Baton Chart, which shows escalation of trauma by vital and vulnerable striking areas. All courses include baton retention techniques. Baton retention not only protects the officer from a possible impact weapon strike, it also protects the subject from a potentially deadly escalation of force, and therefore the agency from unnecessary lawsuits. The courses also include armlocks and escort holds designed to control subjects, which can provide reduced agency liability from excessive force complaints. The Instructor Course provides the needed training to transform any officer into a certified Monadnock Side-Handle Baton Instructor. Certification of all Monadnock courses requires that students properly demonstrate the techniques of the course and pass a written exam.

OC Pepper Spray Instructor Course Offered:

LS Enterprises, Aerosol Weapons Oleoresin Capsicum Training - Instructor
Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray is one of the most useful force options available to law enforcement. An officer of any size could quickly de-escalate an encounter with several large, hostile subjects. It offers a heightened ability to incapacitate a subject while minimizing the chance of permanent injury. OC derives from the extract of hot pepper plants, and it is merely an inflammatory to the eyes and respiratory system. Using OC Spray is an easy process that does not require continued practice, unlike many perishable defensive tactics skills. Our one-day course will cover OC history, delivery systems, deployment, and post-use treatment/observations as well as a review of the Use of Force. Law enforcement officers will also participate in a personal exposure to OC exercise, and must complete a series of drills in order to pass the training evolution. The Aerosol Weapons (OC) Spray Training Instructor Course provides the needed background to transform any officer into a certified OC Pepper Spray Instructor.

Handcuffing Instructor Course Offered:

LS Enterprises, Techniques and Tactics for Handcuffing (TTH) - Instructor
Handcuffing is one of the basic tenets of law enforcement and security. It´s a way of securing the most violent offenders, as well as those merely in suspicious circumstances who may never end up being arrested. Handcuffing protects the suspect and the officer from injury. Handcuffing is taught in the early weeks of the police academy and we often revisit it during our careers, sometimes under the guise of ¨tactical¨ handcuffing when learning to apprehend combative subjects.

We think that every police or security officer would be very skilled in this common task. It´s sad, but true, that we have to be reminded of the very basics. Because, too often, we see situations where officers didn´t stick to the basics and find themselves in peril. Obviously, a refresher course in ALL the elements of handcuffing is necessary from time to time.

If you have a subject who is clearly cooperative, why would you have the subject jump through hoops before handcuffing him? In many cases, this just turns a cooperative subject into an uncooperative person. The other problem is that instructors often teach too many handcuffing techniques in their courses. Research in the area of psychomotor skills has shown that officers are able to learn, remember and retain a limited amount of material when it comes to physical techniques. By focusing on a smaller number of techniques done in a variety of positions is more effective for learning than attempting to cover too much material.

The instructor course is designed to teach instructors the basic concepts of handcuffing and how to effectively present the topic to their students.
